Multiplatform Production Internship (Remote)

Corporate Area: Digital and Marketing

Department: Multiplatform Marketing

Status: Internship/Full-Time/Remote

Supervisor Title: Manager, Multiplatform Production

Time Commitment: 40 hours/week, June 2023 – August 2023

Compensation: $15/hour for undergraduate students, $17/hour for graduate students

Position Overview:

The Multiplatform Production intern will help the team with planning, evaluating, and managing content in line with our publishing strategy across multiple shows and platforms. The intern will contribute to content ideation for PBS' summer and fall program initiatives, including the PBS Short Film Festival, Arts and Climate programming, Ken Burns films, and others. This position supports the Multiplatform Production team's focus to meet changing audience behaviors by creating rich digital content experiences across platforms, including pbs.org, the PBS App, and 3rd party platforms such as YouTube. Additionally, the intern will collaborate with the SEO team to understand the needs of Google organic search and incorporate SEO best practices into their workflow to maximize the visibility and reach of public media content.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Work closely with the Multiplatform Production team to assist with researching and identifying video content for PBS Owned platforms and 3rd party platforms.

• Collaborate with the Multiplatform Production team and SEO Manager on identifying search trends and developing article content that can connect users with relevant PBS results.

• Learning SEO best practices and applying it to PBS Owned platforms and 3rd party platforms to identify areas to increase the visibility and position of PBS content in Google search.

• Upload, schedule, and research editorial for the PBS YouTube Community Tab.

• Use source material provided by show producers and collaborate with Digital and Social teams to produce non-video content, including quizzes, blogs, and more.

• Review content for quality assurance.

• Edit photos and copy-edit program copy when needed.

Requirements for success:
• Accepting Undergraduate or Graduate students.

• Experience in multimedia production, communications, digital production, or a related field.

• Experience working with digital Content Management Systems (CMS).

• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and previous experience with copy-editing.

• Prior experience with Adobe Creative Suite programs including, but not limited to, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc.

• Experience handling multiple projects and priorities in a cross-functional team setting.

Skills the Intern may gain:
• Understanding of digital video publishing platforms
• Insight into public media's role in the changing digital landscape.

• Understanding of changing audience behaviors and expectations for short form video across PBS Owned Platforms and YouTube.

• Insight into how Google search works, and how to utilize SEO to increase the visibility and reach of your content.

• Editorial Skills.
