Creative Services Design Internship (Hybrid)

Corporate Area: Digital and Marketing

Department: Creative Services

Status: Internship/Part-Time/Hybrid

Supervisor Title: Art Director

Time Commitment: 20 hours/week, June 2023 – August 2023

Compensation: $15/hour for undergraduate students, $17/hour for graduate students

Position Overview:

Creative Services is a branch of Digital & Marketing. We are a multi-disciplined group tasked with national program promotion and in-house design services encompassing video, digital and print projects.

The work of the Design Intern, with the guidance of teammates, ranges from brand management to creative troubleshooting and graphic asset production. The projects span digital and print media.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Learn the PBS brand guidelines and standards
• Learn to recognize brand infractions and suggest suitable solutions
• Support design team with producing assets for programs and projects
• Take active part in brainstorming sessions and creative meetings

Requirements for success:
• 1-2 years art school core curriculum: 2d design, color theory, basic typography
• Basic understanding of design concepts: line, form, rhythm, balance, juxtaposition
• Competency in Adobe design software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) a plus
• Understanding of print design and production is a big plus
• Interest in graphic design and an appetite to create is a must

Skills the Intern may gain:
• Real world design experience
• Confidence voicing ideas and developing constructive feedback
• A realistic understanding of an in-house design career
