Spring 2021 Virtual Internship

News 19 in Huntsville, Alabama, in conjunction with the Nexstar, Inc. Television Stations of Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi, is offering a Content Creator Course/Virtual Internship program for the Spring 2021 Semester. The 2021 Spring Virtual Internship for Content Creators will be conducted 100% remotely.

Participants, coaches, and instructors will meet online to engage in course and critique sessions. The course will meet over of a period of 10 weeks from late January to early April.

Who Should Apply for the Internship?

The program is a great fit for students (Seniors & Juniors preferred) who seek careers as multi-media journalists, producers, videographers, reporters, and anchors.

It would be a good fit for students who aspire to careers which interact with editorial professionals or careers in content marketing, public relations, and promotions.

What Will the Program Look Like?

Participants will meet remotely twice a week with an instructor and the rest of program participants. Each week will include assignments that will include writing, video shooting, editing web and social media content. Because of the remote nature of the program students should have their own equipment. Video assignments are designed so they can be completed using a smart phone if desired.

Recommended (optional) tools include:

A lavalier microphone to capture higher quality interviews and on-camera presentation

A tripod for your camera or phone

General Information:

1.) WHNT News 19 accepts interns for the spring session. This session will be done remotely.

2.) Applicants interested in an internship for this session must apply by January 10.

3.) The WHNT internship program is unpaid. You must receive college credit for the internship. Accepted applicants will be given a separate form that must be signed by an academic advisor or department head certifying credit will be received.

4.) Interns will report to the internship coordinator.

5.) Juniors, seniors and graduate students are preferred to apply for the program.

6.) You must receive college or university credit for participating in this program. To receive course credit, you must comply with all school requirements as well as WHNT requirements.
