News-Intern

Nexstar is currently offering an unpaid internship opportunity in our News Department at our Wichita Falls, Texas location. Interested applicants should apply to this open position on www.texomashomepage.com please include a resume with the following information:
• Semester
• Spring: February through April
• Summer: June through August
• Fall: October through December
• Available start and end dates
• Days and hours available to intern

Newsroom interns will spend their time shadowing and gaining experience in the following departments:

Production
• Work in the studio learning news operation and staffing cameras.
• Learn a variety of settings and challenges that production work possesses.

Assignment Desk
• Assist team members in gathering news and information.
• May also assist in research and other tasks.

TV News Production
• Learn the process of writing and formatting scripts for broadcast.
• Time in the field shadowing reporters or anchors at a live report is possible but not guaranteed.

Digital News Production
• Learn how to research and write content for digital platforms and various social media platforms.

Photographers and Logistics
• Assist team members with field work and news gathering.
• May accompany reporters on location shoots but not guaranteed.

Weather
• Learn how to analyze weather charts and models.
• Observe the process of preparing the daily forecasts and weather graphics.
• Assist meteorologists in gathering critical & breaking weather information and data.
• Research statistical data
