Fall 2022 Internship Program:

Our Data Science and Analytics internships are designed to provide interns with real-world experience working on projects in a typical Data Science or Analytics environment, using state-of-the-art tools and technologies, while gaining broad exposure to the media industry. Interns will acquire specific responsibilities, goals, and timelines aligned with the teams they are embedded in. Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:

Virtual Opportunities:
• Television & Streaming Data Science: This group focuses primarily on decision science analyses to support and inform strategy and key business decisions and building advanced data products to help enable more data-enhanced decision support. Interns will assist with research & development to inform new methodologies. Interns will also contribute to the development of tools and data pipelines, as well as implement predictive and inferential statistical and/or machine learning models. The Data Science intern will be exposed to exciting new challenges and opportunities arising from today's swiftly changing media landscape. They will work on projects designed to address strategic business questions around how to create, market, and distribute media content. In the process, they will receive hands-on experience with real-world datasets, use popular Data Science technologies, and apply statistical and machine learning techniques to develop insights and inform on business strategies.
• Peacock Data Science: This team is focused on building machine learning and statistical models to understand and predict content value and performance, customer journey and lifetime value, and developing recommendation systems. Interns will explore and transform data (e.g., cleansing, discretization, imputation, selection, generalization) to create high quality features for the modeling process. Interns develop a close partnership with the team to build real-time and automated batch pipelines for productizing data science solutions. Gain experience in using big data, relational and non-relational data sources to access data at the appropriate level of granularity for the needs of specific analytical projects.
• Peacock Product & Advertising Experimentation: The Experimentation team oversees all experimentation efforts within Peacock. This includes planning, designing, executing, and analyzing experiments. The team partners with stakeholders across the organization, specifically around Product and Advertising, to implement strategic initiatives that drive growth via A/B/n and multivariate testing. Within this role, the intern will have access to projects that drive such growth and interact with key stakeholders within Product, Advertising, and Decision Sciences. The intern can apply a wide range of analytical techniques, including SQL, Python, Statistical Modeling, and Data Visualization. The intern's contribution to major Product and Advertising changes will be tangible and realized. The Intern will work closely with Experimentation Manager to conduct experimentation projects to drive incremental optimization of product and advertising experiences.
• Peacock Media Analytics: Peacock Media Analytics (part of the larger Decision Sciences team) focuses on the optimization of Cross Channel Paid, Owned and Earned media efforts. We work very closely with Media Agencies to optimize Peacock Marketing across all Marketing Channels. Our areas of interest include Media Performance Analyses, Attribution Modeling (Multi-Touch Attribution & Marketing Mix Modeling), Audience Testing and Optimization and Data Normalization across marketing platforms.
• Peacock Social Marketing Analytics: Unlike a traditional internship, the Decision Sciences Internship in Peacock embeds future data experts in ongoing projects within the organization. They become active members of existing teams working on high-impact analytics, owning specific responsibilities, goals and timelines which directly support the broader goals of Peacock Decision Sciences and Brand Marketing. Upon completion, Interns will have gained real-world problem-solving experience in a high-visibility and fast-paced media environment. They will have learned the fundamentals of marketing a product in its infancy, from KPI measurement to broad strategic initiatives throughout the marketing funnel. The intern will conduct analytics and measurement for organic social media activities for Peacock and several related social accounts. Focal points will include audience engagement, social listening, campaign effectiveness, fan growth and content deep dives; query and analyze complex data sets to develop actionable insights that enable the Social Media team to optimize their content.

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the length of the program in Data Science, Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or other relevant quantitative fields. and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress. Master's or PhD preferred.
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.
• If selected for a virtual internship, must be working from a location within the United States during all hours worked.
• Working knowledge of at least two of the following programming languages: R, Python, Julia, Java, Scala or similar

Additional Job Requirements
• Must submit an attestation disclosing your COVID-19 vaccination status and, if partially or fully vaccinated, submitting your vaccination record no later than 7 days following commencement of employment.
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the commencement of employment or must undergo regular COVID-19 testing if Company determines your job position requires accessing an NBCUniversal worksite.
• Must be willing to adhere to all Company COVID-19 workplace safety policies and protocols.

Desired Characteristics
• Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Experience with Machine Learning, statistical modeling, predictive modeling, classification models, and clustering a plus.
• Advanced working knowledge of statistics and its applications for inferential data analysis
• Applied experience creating time-series forecasts
