About the Role & Program:
The Core Pipeline department at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) builds and supports essential infrastructure and services that power production workflows across ILM's global studios. Our team is responsible for render farm management software, data synchronization platforms, media creation pipelines, and storage backup & archival systems. We ensure that the backbone of ILM's technical operations is innovative, robust, and efficient for artists and developers company-wide.
What You Will Do:
As a Core Pipeline Intern, you will apply your technical skills to real-world, high-impact projects that support ILM's global production operations. You'll partner with experienced engineers to design, develop, and implement tools and systems that keep our studios running smoothly and efficiently.
During the internship, you will:
Develop systems to improve monitoring of critical production services and tools
Implement user interfaces (UIs) to optimize production and artist workflows
Create APIs for centralized, cross-studio access to core services
Build tools and services for the Core Pipeline team used throughout ILM
Contribute to ongoing operational tasks, such as troubleshooting and bug fixes

Required Qualifications & Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with a wide range of collaborators
Strong time management, able to multitask and prioritize
Self-driven with a positive, proactive attitude; thrives both independently and on a team

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Proficiency with Linux operating systems
Experience with Python programming; familiarity with distributed systems a plus
Knowledge of Python-based web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask) or ReactJS for UI development
Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, redis, or similar data store technologies
Familiarity with virtualization and containerization tools (e.g., VMware, Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes)
Understanding of deployment and CI tools (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins)
Interest or experience in film, video post-production, or computer graphics

Education:
Junior or Senior year preferred
Major or previous coursework in Computer Science or a related technology field
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
The pay rate for this role in San Francisco is $42.00 per hour. Select benefits may be provided as
