The Internship Program

The Hearst Magazines Summer Internship Program is a paid, full time 11-week program for undergraduate rising Juniors & Seniors. From June 3 – August 16, 2024, our interns will gain an immersive, hands-on experience with one of the top publishers in the world.

In addition to working with their assigned team on important projects, interns will gain access to Hearst's diverse professional network by participating in intimate learning sessions and join fun peer networking activities throughout the summer. Program participants will also leverage Hearst's resources to work on and present a group project to senior leaders at the conclusion of the program.

The Central Video team at Hearst Magazines produces video content across all of Hearst Magazines brands (including but not limited to Cosmopolitan, ELLE & Harper's BAZAAR). The team handles everything from pre-production and talent booking, to production/filming, all the way through post-production, publishing and programming across multiple platforms.

This Summer, the Central Video team is looking for an intern to support the team in NYC.

What You'll Do
• Assist in researching talent, creating info-packets for upcoming shoots, and contributing to creative pre-pro
• Assist producers with writing social copy (including titles, descriptions, and captions)
• Assist with coordinating assets and copy across producers and social editors
• Assist with tracking publishing and programming calendars
• Assist producers and cinematographers on set (including everything from handling props and equipment, to coordinating crew meals and crafty spreads)
• Assist with post-production needs (working with producers to write graphics, pull broll, etc)

Who You Are
• Must have strong writing skills with an excellent grasp on grammar and writing in various tones/voices
• Must be pop-culture obsessed – the ideal candidate will have a finger on the pulse of what's currently trending, relevant, and upcoming
• Must be well-versed across social media platforms (especially TikTok and Instagram)
• Must be highly organized and both willing/able to multi-task
• Experience working in TV/film or video production a PLUS
• Experience working in fashion a plus
• Preferred college major: Journalism, Film + TV or related majors

The estimated base salary for this role is $20/hour. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, including geographic location where the work will be performed, and other factors permitted by law. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.  

This role requires the position to be located in New York, NY with an in-office presence of 3 days a week.
