Job Description
Disney Entertainment Television is a collection of renowned content brands at The Walt Disney Company creating original entertainment and news programming for the company's streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu and Star, and its broadcast and cable networks. In 2023, Disney Entertainment Television's programming excellence earned 163 Emmy® nominations across daytime, primetime, news & documentary, and children's & family categories.FX Legal/Business Affairs negotiates deals and drafts agreements for above-the-line talent (producers, writers, directors, actors and casting directors), underlying rights, and marketing for scripted and unscripted streaming programming. The Department also provides support for other departments within the company (e.g. development, production, finance, legal, marketing), and ancillary activities.
This internship is a full-time commitment in the Los Angeles, CA area from May 19 to August 8, 2025.
What You Will Do
As an intern, you'll be involved in a variety of exciting projects that will challenge and develop your skillset. Projects/work will include drafting deal memos, short form agreements and long form agreements, along with playing the role of an information hub by tracking, maintaining, and distributing information on closed deal terms negotiation updates, closed deals, and signed agreements between different departments. This is a unique position that exposes you to business affairs, production legal, and marketing legal.
We are seeking hard-working individuals who have a passion for entertainment law, negotiation theory, and the television business. This is your chance to gain hands-on experience in an encouraging and creative environment!
• Curiosity about entertainment law, the television business, and/or negotiation theory/strategy (relevant coursework is a bonus).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is a must and familiarity with AirTable is highly desirable.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure.
• A detailed-oriented approach, even when processing a large volume of documents.
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Shown ability to take initiative and balance multiple projects.
• Collaborative teammate who can also work independently.
• Demonstrate a high degree of discretion in regard to sensitive and/or confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous work experience in the entertainment industry, and basic knowledge of copyright law.
Education
• Completion of one or more years of law school in a current JD program at the start of the internship.
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a graduate degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship. Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess unrestricted work authorization.
Additional Information
• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship.
• Fully available from Monday through Friday, 9am-6pm PST for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week.
• Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Los Angeles, CA area.
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work.
The pay rate for this role in California is $41.40 per hour.
