Job Description
FOX 2/STL 11 is currently accepting Creative Services Internship applications for the 2025 summer semester. Internships for this semester are unpaid. Interns must receive college credit. Qualified students must be a junior or senior level studying broadcast journalism, video production, or other communication/marketing degrees.
The focus of the FOX 2/STL 11 Creative Services internship program is to provide an opportunity to experience and learn the fundamentals of Creative Services and marketing, how it relates to other departments within a television station, and ultimately, how it defines the station's on-air look, identity, and brand. In addition, this internship will provide an opportunity to actively participate in the production of news promotion, integrated sales content, and original web content. The Intern will also have the opportunity to shadow professionals and gain hands-on experience. Internship schedules will be based on requirements from college or university. Upon completion of the internship, the student will be evaluated through a written review by the internship supervisor.
Responsibilities
• Assist news topical producers with procuring materials needed for daily production
• Help research developing stories
• Log footage
• Shadow producers on location shoots
• Help develop and create digital content
• Assist with organizing footage
• Write voice-over copy
• Shadow and observe how the Writer/Producers create and edit promotion spots.
• Learn the process of how a promo spot gets produced for broadcast, digital, and social advertising.
• Actively participate in a meaningful learning experience
Requirements & Skills:
• Can legally work in the US without any sponsorship
• A collaborative worker with a willingness to learn
• Some knowledge of Premiere and/or Adobe After Effects is a plus.
• Writing – Arrive to the internship with a basic working understanding of AP style. The internship will teach you how to hone your writing to craft for more compelling scripts and copy, which adhere to professional formats and standards.
• Video Editing – Arrive to the internship knowing how to use a timeline-based software editing program like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro. The internship will teach you how to organize, shape, and sharpen the material you capture into lucid, stronger visual stories
• Video Acquisition – Arrive to the internship able to capture video, natural sound, and interviews on your phone or camera.
• Develop your eye and ear to identify and capture even stronger elements for content.
• Meeting Deadlines – Sense of Urgency and flexibility are Key. The pace is very fast. Assignments often change with little notice.
• You should be prepared to participate nimbly and with flexibility, to fully experience how professionals in our organization conduct their business and meet their responsibilities.
• The ability to multitask and pay close attention to details are essential.
