Job Description

EMI Records is one of the most culturally significant labels in popular music. With an illustrious history and a diverse and ground-breaking roster of acts, the label has been at the forefront of every seminal musical movement.

EMI is the UK home of the world's biggest and most innovative artists including Elton John, Paul McCartney, Florence + The Machine, Queen, Metallica, Bastille and Chvrches. EMI's international roster includes Justin Bieber, Lewis Capaldi, The Killers, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Taylor Swift. In 2020 the label began an exciting new chapter paving the way for a new generation of cultural trailblazers including Bree Runway, Greentea Peng, SG Lewis, Lancey Foux and Amber Mark.

In this role, you will work closely with the marketing team, assisting them across all elements of campaigns, from inception to completion. You will be responsible for assisting the marketing team across multiple projects, planning, organisation and general day to day running of the department. You will act as a conduit of information throughout the label, working with other departments such as Commercial, Promotions and A&R.

Skills & Experience

Be administrative
• Collating information from all departments and updating the sales notes for album releases
• Compiling updates and timelines for Artist campaigns
• Booking couriers and taxis for shoots etc. Arranging travel for managers and artists/crew when appropriate
• Ordering stock (vinyl/CDs) when required
• Updating the gig guide and other internal comms documents
• Helping with managing of label events, gigs and showcases (when they return)
• Ticket ordering for gigs on behalf of the marketing team (when they return)

Be operational
• Schedule new releases (singles/ EPs/ Albums/ Videos) and liaising with production to get all necessary assets delivered by deadline for release
• Creating links in advance of releases
• Submitting video descriptions on YouTube/VEVO
• Managing the coordination of all marketing assets and circulating to relevant internal and external teams– e.g. pack shots, press releases, biographies etc
• Project budgeting in UMG finance system Uniport; including approving quotes from suppliers, raising POs etc
• Sending out watermarked audio and video streams in advance of release to contacts
• Sourcing and ordering any merchandise or special items
• Attend gigs; assist on facilitating after shows and showcases
• Any other reasonable duties as required by the marketing team

Be Creative
• We encourage you to get involved with ideas and how to market our exciting new releases
• Have an understanding of music campaigns, digital and social media and the part it plays in artist campaigns
• Bring a positive and open attitude to team discussions and have your voice heard

Person Specification
• Passionate about music and culture
• A great communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deal with people at all levels
• Experience in a role or position that incorporated these skills
• Hard working and enthusiastic team player
• Act as a company advocate where needed
• Organised, efficient and effective
• Flexible and able to prioritise own workload
• Self-motivated with the ability to deal with the routine tasks as well as the more interesting aspects of the role
• Comfortable in a fast-moving, constantly evolving environment and you have the maturity to bring stability to challenging situations
• Ability to use own initiative in terms of problem solving
• Good IT skills a bonus i.e. Word, Excel, Adobe, Photoshop
