Technical Direction Intern (Virtual), DreamWorks, Fall 2021

Responsibilities

DreamWorks Animation is seeking a qualified intern to join our Technical Direction team. This intern will observe and assist Technical Directors with writing tools for the production pipeline in order to gain an understanding of their daily activities. This intern will learn how to develop tools and provide artist support for large-scale feature animation productions. Through this internship, the individual will gain firsthand experience working in a fast-paced, creative environment while being exposed to various production workflows and strategies.

Responsibilities:
• Design and develop new software tools and applications to assist artists in production • Test, debug, and extend existing tools and systems
• Provide technical support to production artists
• Provide support for any additional administrative and data-wrangling tasks as needed

Qualifications/Requirements
• Experience in programming
• Enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate Program or be a recent graduate (within six months of graduation date)
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to commit ten weeks part-time (16-24 hours/week) and work remotely from September 2021 - December 2021
• Must have own equipment (computer, headphones, etc.) and stable Internet connection Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the US without requiring a new Visa or sponsorship

Desired Characteristics
• Major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Visualization or Digital Media (or equivalent)
• Experience in programming languages such as Python, C++ or JavaScript • Computer Graphics and web development experience
• Experience with project-tracking software such as Jira or equivalent
• Understanding of digital content creation applications such as Maya, Houdini, and/or Nuke • Interest in Feature Animation
• Solid grasp of revision control systems such as Git
• Familiarity with User Experience (UX) concepts and/or User Interface (UI) design and development
