Software Developer Intern, Publishing Platform

About Your Role:

Dotdash Meredith is looking for an eager 3rd year and / or 4th year student, looking to learn and grow on one of our many exciting publishing platform teams. You will get to participate in and learn from teams that are building out the next generation of new applications that will drive content publishing at Dotdash Meredith. The publishing platform teams work on a wide variety of projects, with a focus on delivering UX and user-centric solutions that solve tough and interesting problems in the content publishing space.

You will have the opportunity to build out new functionality within our publishing apps and their shared application framework under the guidance of highly experienced and talented Senior Engineers. This will expose you to and deepen your understanding of JavaScript, Node, Vue, Express, HTML, and CSS technologies.

The successful candidate will gain experience in these web technologies, as well as learning the full product development lifecycle from end-to-end. Candidates should possess a desire to work in an iterative, collaborative, agile environment, should be willing to work closely with stakeholders across disciplines, and must have strong communication skills.

About your contributions:
• Develop responsive and elegant SPA functionality with an eye toward streamlined UX, using HTML, Vue, and SCSS, as well as client- and server-side vanilla ES6
• Collaborate with a distributed, agile team of developers, product managers, QA, and designers
• Learn and research new technologies and approaches to solve challenges and improve publishing platform applications
• Participate in conversations about our codebases, feature builds, and technical approaches as part of new feature builds or code refactors

About You:
• Experience or coursework with web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Sass)
• Experience or coursework with Node.js and Express or similar server-side frameworks
• Experience or desire to work with reactive, component-based web frameworks (Vue, React, Angular, etc.)
• A desire to learn, contribute and collaborate
