About the Role and Program

Disney's Direct to Consumer Data and Analytics organization is seeking a Data Analytics Intern who will be an outstanding addition to our Strategy & Forecasting Data team. As an intern, you will contribute to The Walt Disney Company by aiding near real-time causal impact analyses and reporting on Disney Streaming promotions globally by applying analytical difficulty to optimize our strategic analytics. This work emphasizes growing the value of promotional flights in driving our subscribers to consume content.

This team and the Product Analytics team collaborates to develop a tool to evaluate promo efficiency via engagement performance/lift metrics and aid in decision making around promo flights. With the growing number and simultaneous running of promotions on Disney Streaming, additional help for the project is needed to make improvements to the tool, grow capabilities and measurement KPIs, and provide results quickly and thoroughly.

What You Will Do
• Data wrangling of large, sophisticated and sometime unclear, data sets
• Support team by aiding in story and visualization building for collaborator presentations
• Conceptualize and develop new metrics and KPIs, measuring promotion performance for both tactical and strategic decision-making
• Apply sophisticated analytics techniques (data mining, data visualization, statistical analysis, causal inference) on large-scale, high-dimensional data to help drive business decisions
• Provide ad-hoc analysis support for collaborators to help move the business forward
• Interpreting global findings and efficiently presenting insights in an actionable way in real-time

Required Qualifications & Skills
• Proficiency in SQL and data visualization
• Attention to detail and ability to wrangle large sets of complex data
• Experience in statistical analysis and machine learning techniques: decision trees, regression, causal inference, clustering etc.
• Experience in R and/or Python
• Demonstrate ability to work independently and creatively tackle open-ended problems
• Outstanding data storytelling skills through verbal, written, and visual communication

Preferred Qualifications
• A passion for Media and Entertainment

Education
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science or equivalent

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
• At the time of application, be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess unrestricted work authorization
• Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program

Additional Information
• The approximate dates of this internship are May/June through July/Aug 2024
• Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in Santa Monica, CA
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
