CNN Digital Internship (September 2022)

The Job:

Primary responsibilities include research, fact-checking, transcribing footage, assisting on shoots, contributing story and show ideas, attending planning and creative meetings and sourcing images and footage.

The Essentials:

Candidates should be detail-orientated, have strong writing and research skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and have the confidence to pitch story ideas and potential guests to show producers.

News intern
Our intern will be assigned to the digital news team, which creates content consumed by millions of people every day – from dynamic breaking news coverage to hard-hitting feature journalism. The intern will work alongside a team of dedicated and experienced journalists, attend regular editorial meetings and participate in the editorial process. There will be opportunities to hone your researching skills, sharpen your news writing, contribute to CNN's newsletters, develop pitch ideas and report out longform features. A successful digital news intern is committed to quality journalism, has strong knowledge of international issues, a keen interest in the digital media landscape, and a sharp eye for the stories that spark conversation on a daily basis.

Programming intern
Our intern will be assigned to the global programming team, which curates our homepages and mobile app. This team sits at the sharp end of our output – right at the point where our journalism meets our audience. There will be opportunities to hone your headline-writing skills, learn how to write engaging push alerts, and edit some of our key landing pages. There will also be opportunities to pitch to the news team – so you have the chance to finish your internship with a collection of bylines. The successful candidate will have solid news judgment, good writing skills, and sharp eye for how stories should be presented.

Digital Video

The digital video intern assists producers, editors and supervisors across the full gamut of video production, from the research and pitching stage right through to postproduction and all stages in between. We're looking for curious, versatile, enthusiastic and proactive candidates with an interest in both news and features content, long and short-form video, with a mixture of technical and editorial skills.

The Video Development Group is split into two primary units, focusing on daily turn news & feature content, as well as longer-lead series. This internship position will spend time with both units, creating an opportunity to learn a wide range of skills over the course of the program.

CNNi Productions (Features digital)

The CNNi Productions team produces features content across TV, digital and social platforms. The Intern will help with researching and planning stories, as well as writing scripts and articles, and creating social content. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for a story, strong organisational skills, an ability to multi-task, and a good understanding of both TV and digital platforms.

The Internship:
• Salary: £ 88.40 per day
• Contract Length: 6 months
• Start Date: Likely to be 1 st September 2022
• You will gain hands-on experience working on business-critical projects. 
• You will have to opportunity to network and build relationships with professionals, executives, and other students passionate about their field. 
• You will work with industry professionals to best position yourself for a full-time position upon graduation/completion of internship.
