Job Description
Political Unit Internship - Summer 2023 (Hybrid/Fully Onsite, DC)

Important notes:
• This role is based in DC. The team's summer format will be hybrid or fully onsite.
• We do not cover the cost of housing or transportation.
• Internships are paid at a standard competitive hourly rate, so proper work authorization is needed to be employed within the United States. The pay rate for this role is $20/hr.
• The program starts in June and runs for 10 weeks.
• Interns must be available to work full time (5 days) per week (no weekends). Normal business hours.
• You must be a rising junior, senior or master's student to be eligible (December 2023-May 2025 grads).
• College credit is optional, not required. We will provide appropriate documentation if necessary.
Overview/Responsibilities:

The intern will work with some of the news industry's top political journalists and learn how a top network Political Unit operates. The intern may be assigned to a variety of responsibilities including working with the Political Director, Political Coordinating Producer, Political Correspondents, Political Reporters, Political Producers.

The intern would cover feeds of political events, research for stories & for major events like debates & elections. Interns will likely have the opportunity to observe work in the field alongside correspondents, and photographers.

Candidates must have:
• A strong interest in politics and political journalism.
• A strong grasp of presidential campaign politics, elections and political polling.
• A strong work ethic and experience in writing for news.
• Student journalist with an strong interest in Political Journalism preferred.
• Computer skills, excellent written skills and verbal communication abilities.

Hiring Salary Range: $20.0.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
