Amazon Studios is seeking bright, multitasking, dynamic and self-motivated interns to work hard, have fun and make history with us this summer. Amazon Studios Internship Program gives interns hands-on experience working with the studio behind critically-acclaimed and award-winning original programming including TV series such as The Boys, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Fleabag and movies like Borat Subsequent MovieFilm, Coming 2 America, The Big Sick and Oscar nominee Argentina 1985.In addition to working closely with Post Executives
in Culver City offices, interns have the opportunity to participate in internal meetings, guest speaker sessions, networking events and screenings.
This role will get the opportunity to work with Post Production Executives and Coordinators in Los Angeles, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, London, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris, Tokyo, Sydney, Cape Town, Seoul and our show-side partners around the world, while also having a special focus on our Canadian Original Scripted Series.
Over the course of the summer this position will learn the end-to-end steps of post production working backwards from all the master deliverables that are needed to launch on Prime Video. This role will get visibility into the pre-greenlight and pre-production post production budgeting and scheduling process, and they will get a unique view into the editorial and post finishing, including the creative notes process, picture finishing and audio finishing. This position will learn about UHD, HDR, cloud-based workflows and other Amazon Studios' tech-forward initiatives.
Our summer internship will run from May 2023 through August 2023.
Key job responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to post production-related tasks and projects, shadowing a Post Executive in show-related meetings, schedule and budget reviews, and participating in cut and asset distribution processes. The intern will work with their manager to identify the areas of strength and interest, thus determining the specific responsibilities, while also making sure the internship will be the most beneficial and enjoyable for the intern.
A day in the life
Intern will have the opportunity to learn from Post Executives and Coordinators across the globe, while working closely with the LA-based Post team focusing on Canada. Intern will be exposed to the latest post production workflows and technologies and will have visibility into how the post production team collaborates with the creative, production, legal and marketing partners throughout the life of a project. They will learn what factors go into budgeting and scheduling a project, how to set up editorial and how each step in the finishing process works, thus being a part of the project at different stages.
About the team
You will be a part of the International Scripted Series Post Production team at Amazon Studios. The team currently consists of 33 members spread across 5 continents. You will be working closely with the LA-based team, focusing on Canada, while also having visibility into the global team and other international projects.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Candidates must be active students during the time of their internship. A student is characterized by: any candidate currently enrolled in an accredited degree program, including Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, Associate, certificates, and diplomas.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook as well as strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Organized and with great attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize as needed
• Problem solver
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous internship experience at a production company or studio.
• Some experience in post production and/or production
• High attention to detail
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Detailed planning, time management and organizational skills
• Positive, proactive and able to always exercise great judgment and common sense
• Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
• Creative problem-solver
• High levels of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
• Previous work experience in the entertainment industry a plus.
• Multilingual is a plus
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $16.83/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $40.43/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
