WABC-TV, the flagship Disney/ABC – owned television station in New York, is the most-watched television station in the New York Television market and the United States. WABC also leads the market in station websites and has the highest social media engagement.
Here & Now is a weekly one-hour program airing on Channel 7, dedicated to covering the issues and interests of the African American community in the New York tristate area. Hosted by Sandra Bookman, this program focuses on the latest news stories that are impacting the African American community. The show offers a new platform for leaders and experts to voice their opinions, concerns, and plans. Here & Now takes an in-depth look at both national and local stories of interest. This show also celebrates the lifestyles of African Americans living in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut! Here & Now offers features on celebrities, performing arts, restaurants and the latest fashion trends
A Day in the Life…
As a Here & Now intern, you will be responsible for the following:
• Assist Executive Producer
• Research story ideas
• Assist with script coordination
• Transcribing interviews
• Booking guests
• Greeting and escorting guests to the studio on production days
• Observe control room on production days
• May have the opportunity to go out on the field
What we are looking for…
• Strong interest in the Television industry
• Previous experience working in Microsoft Office
• A self-starter and willingness to take initiative
• Motivated with a can-do attitude
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Video editing experience in Adobe Premiere is a plus
Required Education:
• Junior or Senior-level standing
The pay rate for this internship in New York is $20.00 per hour.
Additional Information:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• The approximate dates of this internship are June 2023 – September 2023
• All candidates must be fully available to work 16-24 hours/week. Must be available on Wednesdays (production day) and one office day between Monday-Thursday
• Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session
• This internship is a hybrid internship. Must be able to provide own housing and reliable transportation for work in the New York City area. Also requires a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated workspace.
