Nightline is part of the award-winning ABC News team. It airs Monday-Friday at 12:35am. The 30-minute broadcast brings viewers inside stories ranging from breaking news to feature stories. Nightline has also produced numerous original documentaries available on ABC News digital platforms and Hulu.

Nightline interns will be exposed to the inner-workings of a network broadcast--from pitching stories to seeing the final product on the air. Interns will experience what life in a national newsroom is like.

A Day in the Life…
• Assisting with Daily Logging Elements: You will be responsible for reviewing and logging various media materials, such as video footage and interviews. This process helps organize the content for efficient use in the production workflow.
• Going on Shoots: You may have the chance to accompany the Nightline production team on field shoots. This could involve assisting with setting up equipment, interacting with interviewees, or helping with any logistical tasks required during shoots.
• Assisting with Administrative Duties: In the office environment, you'll contribute to administrative tasks essential for the smooth operation of the show. This could include organizing documents, managing schedules, answering phone calls, and handling any necessary paperwork.
• Exposure to Story Development and Production: You'll get to experience firsthand the entire process of developing news stories for broadcast. This includes researching potential topics, gathering information, conducting interviews, and assisting with writing and editing scripts.
• Participating in Editorial Meetings: You'll have the opportunity to attend editorial meetings where the Nightline team discusses potential stories, story angles, and coverage strategies. Your input and perspective as an intern could be valuable in shaping the content.
• Assisting our Production Assistant team in pulling stock photos and video for our stories.
• Support booking team
• Writing digital articles to accompany our broadcast stories

What we are looking for…

(Basic Qualifications)
• Interest in editorial content development
• Ability to work efficiently in a team/group setting
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Knowledge and interest in current events

(Preferred Qualifications)
• Previous internship experience in a professional newsroom setting.
• Familiarity with ABC News Programming

Required Education:
• To be eligible for this internship you must be a junior, senior or a recent graduate (within 6 months of your graduation date) pursing a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Film/Television or a related field

Additional Details:
• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
• Must be at least 18 years of age​ and possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program. ​
• Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session
• This internship is a onsite position: Must be able to work on-site in New York City and provide your own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
• Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are January 2024 - June 2024. Candidate must be available to work 40 hours/week in Eastern Standard time for the duration of the internship- could be nights, weekends and possible overnights
