The Investigative Unit produces investigative pieces for all of ABC News' programming, including Good Morning America, World News Tonight with David Muir, Nightline and 20/20.

You will play a key role in supporting producers in every step of the production process.

A Day in the Life…
• Supporting producers and editors in the edit rooms for day-of-air pieces
• Providing tape research and transcription
• Assisting producers with research for investigative broadcast pieces
• Assisting PAs and APs in managing media and organizing broadcast projects

What we are looking for…(Basic Qualifications)
• Strong research and writing is a must
• Demonstrated interest in investigative journalism
• Demonstrated interest in TV journalism
• Experience in a breaking news environment
• Good knowledge of Windows/Outlook/Filing Systems
• Ability to transcribe quickly and accurately
• Willingness to work long hours
• Especially interested in graduate students with a strong interest in investigative reporting

(Preferred Qualifications)
• Broadcast news experience or an understanding of how TV production comes together
• Familiarity with AVID News Cutter or other editing programs
• Secondary language skills

Required Education:
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at a college/university taking at least one class in the semester prior to participation in the internship program, or recently graduated within six months at time of application.

Preferred Education:
• Senior, recent graduate or graduate level student

Additional Details:
• This internship is a hybrid internship. The intern will work some days in the office and other days remotely, so it requires a working, reliable internet connection as well as a quiet, dedicated work space.
• The approximate dates of this internship are January - May/June 2023
• Must be willing to live in the New York City area and provide own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
• Candidate must be available to work full-time hours (40 hours/week) for the duration of the internship
