Job Description
The ABC News intern assists the communications department publicists in the day-to-day operations of the news media relations department.

The ABC News Communications department is responsible for handling all communication efforts for ABC News programs and platforms, including ''World News Tonight with David Muir,'' ''Good Morning America,'' ''Nightline,'' ''20/20,'' ''This Week with George Stephanopoulos,'' ''The View,'' ''Tamron Hall,'' ''GMA3,'' ABC News Live, ABC News Studios, ABC News Digital, ABC News Audio and ABC NewsOne. The intern would assist the ABC News Communications department in all areas.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
• Compiling and editing daily press clips
• Contributing to weekly status reports and weekly highlights documents
• Posting press releases/announcements/advisories to the ABC News Pressroom Tumblr
• Compiling media lists
• Maintaining correspondents, anchor and executive bios
• Assisting awards submissions
• Create and maintain schedules
• Curate and disseminate information to team
• Assist in writing press releases, loglines
• Assist during virtual publicity and events (may include some evenings and weekends)
• Contribute to brainstorming sessions and publicity strategy meetings
• Contribute to social media efforts
• Other administrative needs

Basic Qualifications:

• Proficiency with MS Office Suite
• Previous media/PR internship experience
• Strong organizational/multi-tasking/prioritization skills
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills; ability to see projects through to completion
• Self-starter/able to take initiative
• Interpersonal/relationship-building skills; ability to take feedback and direction
• Strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative, team based environment
• Candidate must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
• Must work well under pressure

Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous internship experience within a related field
• Existing knowledge of the television business and industry experience

Required Education
• Senior or recent graduate

Additional Information:

Internship Eligibility:
• Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR graduated within the past 6 months
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization

Program Dates: The approximate dates are January 2022 – May 2022. Interns will work 24 hours per week throughout the internship and must provide 3 full days of availability throughout the internship.

Location: This intern will work out of our New York, NY office.
