An internship on the ABC News Assignment Desk is designed to introduce and engage undergraduate students with a passion for broadcast journalism to the daily workings of a 24-hour global news organization.

A Day in the Life…
• Providing production support to the ABC News Assignment Desk (answering phones, booking travel)
• Pitching stories, research, making editorial calls, logging video feeds and transcribing tapes
• Writing stories or livestream for ABC News Digital platforms

What we are looking for…(Basic Qualifications)
• An avid newsreader with a genuine interest in current affairs
• Detail oriented, works well under pressure and excellent multi-tasking skills
• Demonstrated interest (academic or internship) in journalism or production
• Experience working in a newsroom for an affiliate, newspaper, or established online publication preferred
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Ability to work flexible schedules with availability on weekends and evenings in case of breaking news

(Preferred Qualifications)
• Experience writing for either online or print publications

Required Education:
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at a college/university taking at least one class in the semester prior to participation in the internship program, or recently graduated within six months at time of application.

Preferred Education:
• Undergraduate students in their Junior or Senior year or recent graduates

Additional Details:
• This is a hybrid internship where the intern will be asked to work in the office occasionally and work remotely the rest of the time. Hybrid is preferred, but open remote only.
• The internship requires a working, reliable internet connection.
• Candidate must be willing to relocate to the New York City area and provide your own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
• The approximate dates of this internship are January - May 2023
• Candidate must be available to work full-time hours (approximately 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri in EST) for the duration of the internship
• Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session
