About the Role & Program
''This Week with George Stephanopoulos'' is ABC News flagship public affairs program featuring newsmaker interviews, political analysis, and debates on a wide range of issues!
Each week's show includes interviews with top newsmakers (including some of the nation's top political leaders) as well as a roundtable discussion, usually featuring journalists from ABC and other news organizations, of the week's happenings.
What You Will Do
As an intern with ''This Week,'' you play a vital role within the editorial team! Your responsibilities may encompass:
• Generating and communicating ideas in editorial pitch meetings
• Conducting background research for headline interviews and roundtable segments
• Transcribing prerecorded interviews
• Assisting in the production of the live show on Sunday mornings, including guest greeting
• Publishing digital stories summarizing headline interviews post-show
Required Qualifications & Skills
• A genuine curiosity about politics and journalism
• A proven foundation of knowledge in politics and current events, both domestically and internationally
• Previous experience, whether academic or through internships, in broadcasting, reporting, or writing news content
• Discerning editorial judgment
• Proficient writing and editing skills
• Effective research abilities
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Majors in Journalism or Political Science
Preferred Qualifications
• Showcased passion for journalism, whether in print, broadcast, or through academic coursework and past internships
• Academic or internship experience in editing for publications
• Shown curiosity about political discourse or political studies, supported by academic coursework or internship involvement
Education
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
• Undergraduate students in their Junior or Senior year preferred
• Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Film/Television or a related field
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program.
• Must be able to work on-site in Washington, DC and have reliable transportation to/from work
• Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are January 2025 through June 2025.
• Candidate must be available to work 32 hours/week (Thursday – Sunday) in Eastern Standard time for the duration of the internship- could be nights, weekends and possible overnights
The pay rate for this role in Washington, DC is $22.00 per hour.
