About the Role & Program
Nightline is part of the award-winning ABC News team! The 30-minute broadcast brings viewers inside stories ranging from breaking news to feature stories. Nightline has also produced numerous original documentaries available on ABC News digital platforms and Hulu.
Nightline interns will be exposed to the inner-workings of a network broadcast-from pitching stories to seeing the final product on the air. Interns will experience what life in a national newsroom is like.
The approximate dates of this internship are late August 2025 through early January 2026.
What You Will Do
• Attend local interviews to support production, producers and correspondents.
• Review and log various media materials, such as video footage and interviews.
• Participate in essential administrative tasks crucial for the smooth operation of the show.
• Research potential story topics and capture information, as well as research and assist with prep for interviews.
• Attend daily Nightline staff editorial meetings to discuss potential stories, story angles, and coverage strategies.
• Assist our Production Assistant team in pulling stock photos and video for our stories.
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television production, news and news media production; and/or television news script writing
• Experience with multi-tasking in a constantly evolving work environment, effectively balancing and prioritizing multiple projects
• Experience working in collaborative environments, and researching and/or using a range of tools to acquire information and present findings
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with ABC News Programming
• Knowledge and interest in current events
• Familiarity with and/or curiosity about editorial content development
• Previous internship experience in a professional newsroom setting
• Experience with digital editing using AVID or similar program
• Experience with fact-checking
Education
• Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Film/Television or a related field
• Junior or Senior year preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
• The approximate dates of this internship are late August 2025 through early January 2026
• Fully available to work 40 hours per week (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights, weekends, and/or possible overnights)
• Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York area
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
The pay rate for this role in New York is $22.00 per hour.
