At DreamWorks Animation Television, our Generalist (Hair and Grooming) works closely with the Global VFX Supervisor and Asset Supervisor to coordinate with Modeling, Rigging, Texturing, Hair, Lighting and Production to help ensure that all aspects of the asset creation process come together seamlessly and efficiently.

DreamWorks Animation Television has an exciting new opportunity for a Generalist (Hair and Grooming) to join its team. This position is covered by the Animation Guild.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Design and create reliable and reusable character hair and fur solutions on a TV production schedule
• Create Xgen environment solutions based on designs provided in the series Design Packs
• Serve as hair and cloth point person in show specific meetings and reviews
• Work with each CG Artist to ''Final'' assets before entering the Animation Pipeline
• Check all assets for consistency and adhere to pipeline standards such as: naming conventions, node hierarchies, file directory hierarchy, and a QC pass on all rigged items
• Responsible for bringing parallel asset creation files together into the final complete assets, apply shader networks to final finals and cleaning final files to ensure they work as efficiently as possible
• Complete assigned tasks for Character Modeling, Environment Modeling, Rigging, Surfacing, Hair or Lighting departments dependent on your identified CG specialty
• Review and note production builds created by our Partner Studio(s) to ensure they align with the technical specifications of the series
• Document workflows and processes using Camtasia video and in-house Wiki
• Collaborate with the Leads and Artists in other CG disciplines to help establish processes and pipeline integration during the course of RnD, prebuild for new shows and existing show production

Qualifications/Requirements
• Understanding of the CG Pipeline
• Knowledge of Maya, V-Ray, XGen, and Yeti
• Fundamental generalist skills for troubleshooting and identifying problems within files
• Prior experience working in a fast paced production environment
• Ability to meet required production deadlines
• Creative problem solving and adaptability skills
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve unexpected technical problems
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently, within a group and with partner studios, and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and enjoys working in a team environment

Desired Characteristics
• At least 2 years of professional experience working within a 3D production pipeline in TV animation, VFX or Games
• Scripting proficiency in Python and Mel preferred
• Understanding of rigging tools and surface modeling techniques preferred
• Dynamic simulation background preferred
• Experience with asset management software, Shotgun preferred
• Experience working with international Partner Studio(s) is a plus
• Bachelor's degree preferred
