Visual Development Artist

Job Description

DreamWorks Animation Television is seeking a Visual Development Artist with a diverse set of skills to join our on "Trollstopia" a 2D - action/comedy/musical show. The candidate should demonstrate a strong design foundation and a strong paint foundation to execute on the creative vision of the series.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Meet with Creative Leadership to follow through on instructions and ensure color needs of show are fulfilled
• Complete all color work within assigned deadlines
• Resolve color problems with Creative Leadership
• Design and paint backgrounds under the direction of the Creative Leadership of the series
• Generate rough concepts to explore new designs within the style of the show
• When requested, create and present innovative ideas to enhance visual concepts and designs
• Superior eye and ability to translate a thorough understanding of color, composition, detail, texture, and lighting into designs
• Fulfill other color projects, including but not limited to color lead sheets, color script and color callouts
• Willingness to take feedback and rework material while maintaining a fresh perspective
• Communicate progress of work to appropriate production staff and ensure all deadlines are met
• Ensure all artwork is properly backed up, organized and stored appropriately
• Ensure all shipping materials are prepared and ready on time

Qualifications/Requirements
• Thorough design foundation including strong knowledge of painting, lighting, color theory, knowledge of perspective, and composition
• Advanced knowledge of Photoshop
• Must demonstrate proficiency in style of show
• Is a team player, who genuinely enjoys working with others
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn applicable color software and hardware
• Strong time-management skills
• Work well under pressure
• Ability to multitask a plus

Desired Characteristics
• At least 1 year of experience in TV Production
• At least 1 year of Color Stylist experience and/or training on a similar show; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Working knowledge of Illustrator is a plus
• Bachelor's degree preferred
