Job Description

Fox's Media Operations & Distribution team is looking for an Executive Director of Digital Operations to be responsible for end-to-end service delivery of video (live channels, live events, and VOD) content play out across our mobile, web, and living room channels. As such, this business-critical role is tasked with growing, leading and enabling the teams responsible for running all production applications and services that make up Fox's Digital Products and Digital Live Operations.

This highly technical role is responsible for monitoring, incident management, and operational planning for all owned services, staying current on industry best practices, and learning Fox's specific technologies and architectural implementation and concepts. There is also a focus on optimizing workflows through automation and improving the quality and efficiency of operational capabilities. You will have the opportunity to help shape and define the strategic vision for the organization and plan and execute predictably against a multi-year plan. You will be expected to establish and evangelize operational procedures and processes with a broad group of cross-functional stakeholders.

• Provide leadership for the Digital Media Control Center 24x7x365, supporting a full end to end system and application monitoring and reporting for all Fox Digital Products, Platforms, and Systems
• Establish a mature incident management and escalation process, interfacing with the various peer Digital Ops teams, as well as Development and Customer Service
• Establish an understanding of large-scale oriented process design, SDLC and associated tool chains as well as cultural and organizational models (e.g. DevOps)
• Help build and execute strategic and annual plans, including upholding accountability for policies, procedures, and operating goals, based on standards and goals set for the overall organization
• Build and lead multi-tiered teams of Operations Analysts and Engineers in running Fox Digital Products and Digital Live Operations' most critical Cloud-based services
• Collaborate and partner with Product and Development to influence and implement operational disciplines and projects related to owned services
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships throughout the organization (including our Development, Infrastructure Operations, Security, and Video Delivery teams) to drive innovation and change on a technical and cultural level
• Provide thought leadership to the organization with an emphasis on providing a consistent high-quality end-user experience for all services; champion an agile culture of speed of delivery with quality

• 5+ years of experience building and running Operations capabilities in high-transactional, high-availability 24x7 production environments
• Experience in building/operating products and systems for a consumer-scale service is required
• A broad technical operations perspective with an ability to drill down to specific solutions based upon both technical and business reality as well as industry best practice
• Experience/knowledge of the Broadcast industry
• Experience in podcast and video/delivery space
• Familiarity with security as it applies to operational platforms and processes
• Familiarity with high-level scripting/high-level programming language such as Python, Ruby, or Perl
• Demonstrated management and leadership experience in a demanding technical production operations environment and with the command of systems operations and engineering at scale; comfortable overseeing a team, driving the team's growth and capabilities, providing guidance and support during times of major incidents and high pressure, and caring about your team
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills to appeal to technical and non-technical stakeholders and propose solutions to ensure improvements and quality delivery of services
• Creative problem-solving skills; the ability to find creative solutions to challenging situations and to provide the best possible services to our customers
• Maintain a pulse on everything and dive deep into specific solutions and the details of the business or technologies
• Credible with partners/stakeholders (business, product/program, etc) for a strong team and results-oriented delivery
• Flexibility and ability to switch gears in an extremely fast-paced and frequently changing business and technical environment

Nice To Have
• Working knowledge of Conviva, Touchstream, Splunk Dashboards, SCTE and DAI Monitoring, Jira, Service Now, AWS, Media Connect, Slack
• Experience managing Cloud infrastructure and Cloud-native services is a plus as is an advanced experience in the Broadcasting or Video Delivery space
• An undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent engineering experience would be awesome, but not required
