The Walt Disney Company's Direct-to-Consumer and International segment (DTCI) is a global, multiplatform media, technology and distribution organization for high-quality content created by Disney's Studio Entertainment and Media Networks groups.

DTCI includes Disney's international media operations and the Company's direct-to-consumer businesses globally, including the upcoming Disney-branded direct-to-consumer streaming service, the Company's ownership stake in Hulu, and the ESPN+ sports streaming service, programmed in partnership with ESPN. BAMTECH Media, developer of the ESPN+ and Disney-branded streaming platforms, oversees all consumer-facing digital technology and products across the Company as part of the Direct-to-Consumer and International segment.

The Core Media Test Engineering team within Disney Streaming Services is looking for a driven, self-starting entry-level software engineer to apply their knowledge and to develop their professional skills while developing automated tests, test tools & utilities, and performing functional tests targeting video processing and packaging platforms.Our team works in an exciting and dynamic environment and has involvement in all Disney Streaming partners; Disney+, ESPN+, MLB TV among others.

This position will involve developing software for test automation frameworks and functional validation of development releases.The person that fills this role will be embedded in an Agile software development environment.Working closely with development teams, this person will be reviewing requirements, being involved in reviews, and executing functional tests in an effort to ensure software quality.This person will develop fundamental knowledge of video/audio processing and concepts by performing hands-on testing and critical review of processed content.

Responsibilities:
• Focus on major areas of work, typically 20% or more of role
• Developing software for test automation
• Executing tests against delivered software builds and releases
• Assist in debugging issues often with other teams within Disney Streaming
• Participating in full software development lifecycle, reviewing requirements and testability

Basic Qualifications:
• Excellent communications skills; written and verbal
• Coding and Scripting experience
• Experience with Python
• Experience with Linux
• Knowledge of software lifecycle concepts and methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Object-Oriented development
• Knowledge of JavaScript / Java
• Knowledge of Database concepts
• Understanding of REST API concepts
• Experience with code management; GitHub
• Exposure to video/audio technologies and concepts; OTT delivery, encoding (H.264 / H.265) and packaging (HLS, MP4, DASH, etc.)

Required Education
• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
