Senior Android Engineer - Frameworks & Tooling

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Android Engineer to join our Mobile Core Frameworks & Tooling team at Disney Streaming Services in Amsterdam. This is an opportunity to help build libraries and SDKs for the Android platform while getting to work closely with some of the greatest minds in the streaming media technology industry.

What you'll do:
• Help develop frameworks and SDKs for Android phones, tablets, and TVs
• Your work will be built into apps with millions of users worldwide
• Collaborate: You'll meet with engineers and product owners to create requirements, identify common problems and work towards a solution
• Design: You'll construct APIs that are simple and elegant, with input from the core team and integrating engineers
• Build: You'll create new APIs, help improve existing frameworks, and spearhead new projects
• Test and Maintain: You'll ensure and maintain quality through integration and unit tests, and investigate issues in the wild

What you'll need:
• Excellent knowledge of Java and Kotlin and solid debugging and optimization skills
• Strong understanding of platform frameworks and APIs
• Experience designing APIs and architecting systems used by multiple clients and developing user-facing applications across Android devices and platforms
• Experience developing libraries used across Android devices and platforms as well as experience integrating with backend systems and web services
• Eagerness to learn new technologies, and a strong desire to be challenged technically
• A passion for building, analysing and maintaining high performance software
• Strong understanding of concurrency and asynchronous architecture
• Knowledge of agile software development methodologies
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills
