  • Full Time
  • Senior (5-10 years) Experience
Job Description

Here at Netflix we are investing in content at an unprecedented scale to entertain 155 million+ members globally. We are producing an explosive amount of original content and plan on ramping this up over the next few years. In doing so, we have the opportunity to revolutionize how movies are made and step up to the challenge of scaling our systems to keep pace with our growth.

With Netflix being a relatively young Studio you have the unique opportunity of building products from the ground up that'll play a big role in helping our studio leaders in their decision making and streamlining underlying operations involved in making content.

In this role, you have the opportunity to build technology that will serve as the connective tissue for the Studio, starting with the Business & Legal Affairs space. While we have solutions that solve for specific business problems, our users are having to chase down information that lives in disparate silos, leading to missed opportunities and oftentimes delays and inefficiencies in getting work done. If done right, you would have helped our users evolve from a chaotic world to one where information is fed to the right people at the right time with the context they need. To do this successfully, you would need to get familiar with the workflows involving Business and Legal Affairs and understand its connection points with the rest of the teams in the Studio. You will be building solutions to include smart notifications, data visibility/reporting, bringing offline data online, all while optimizing existing business processes.

In this role you will:
• Own your product(s) from conception to delivery and be expected to take bold risks
• Define product strategy and translate that into a roadmap
• Clearly articulate means by which we can pilot or test ideas before we make big product investments
• Author strategy documents (memos), clearly outlining the problem statement, your hypothesis, the solution(s), and how you will go about measuring success
• Present strategy memos to senior leaders at Netflix across Product & Studio teams
• Translate this into specs that engineering/design will consume & collaborate with them on developing it
• Learn quickly how studio teams (e.g., the creatives, deal negotiators (lawyers), rights managers, production & post production users etc) connect with each other, their underlying workflows and translate that into solutions.
• Identify key data points we need to expose to our Studio leaders that enable efficient decision making
• Build trustworthy relationships with stakeholders and the product org
• Prioritize ruthlessly, justifying how you went about prioritizing
• Work in an agile environment with engineers, designers and researchers to build product in an iterative manner
• Over time be regarded as a trusted partner to both stakeholders and your product team

Here is what we are looking for:
• 5-7+ years of experience as a product manager having shipped successful products at scale across a mix of consumer and/or enterprise
• Ability to thrive in an environment where this is much ambiguity up front in understanding the business problem. You would be responsible for driving it to a point of clarity
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an affinity for socializing product complexity with ease to a variety of audiences
• You can build consensus and alignment but are not afraid to push ahead when there remain some critics
• Technical fluency, including an ability to clearly describe tradeoffs between studio users, studio leaders, designers, and engineering partners
• A master of organization and prioritization who has the ability to triage multiple initiatives with a strong ability to focus team efforts on tackling the right problems at the right time
• Nice to have: product experience in the entertainment industry

Here are few things you may not have known:
• Since the majority of our Studio users are in Los Angeles and a good part of our engineering and design teams in Los Gatos, expect to coordinate between the two locations. Occasionally, there might be international travel as well
• Our culture is unique in that we offer true transparency and autonomy and its key to how we innovate. It's worth learning more about our culture: https://jobs.netflix.com/culture
• This is an IC role with a ton of impact & visibility. We tend to hire senior PMs into such roles who are strategic and can roll up their sleeves and execute - many of our execs came from such IC roles
