Network Engineer

Job Description

The Network Engineer will be responsible for working with the operations and engineering teams around the strategic, tactical, and improvement of the global network platforms. The individual will be evaluating processes regularly to ensure expected outcomes are achieved in the most efficient way along with identifying service improvements and document those improvements. Help ensure standards and processes are followed.

Responsibilities

1. Effectively support all DCI network infrastructure 24*7 by responding to and resolving all trouble tickets within the stipulated SLA time – 40%
2. Clearly understand the root cause of all the network outages and take remediation steps to prevent the recurrence of the problem – 10%
3. Ability to prioritize work based on business criticalities and also be flexible to work on ad hoc tasks as assigned by the manager – 20%
4. Fully understand and adhere to the team’s network standards and procedures both in technical and functional areas – 20%
5. Maintain positive relationships with all user communities, peers and the management team – 10%
6. Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or similar
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in system administration in an enterprise production environment
* Strong skills with OSPF and BGP routing protocols
* Strong skills with DNS, DHCP, and IPAM platforms
* Strong skills with Juniper and Cisco routing and switching platforms
* Strong skills with Cisco and/or Aruba wireless platforms
* Strong skills with F5 and Netscaler load balancer platforms
* Understanding of Juniper SRX, Cisco, and Palo Alto firewall platforms
* Understanding of remote access and VPN technologies
* Understanding of MPLS networks
* Understanding of Aruba Clearpass or similar AAA platforms
* Understanding of network security protocols, standards and policies

* Understanding and experience with IP Telephony

* Understanding of wireless networking protocols and standards
* Understanding of WAN Optimization Technologies
* Process oriented engineer with strong execution and follow-through skills
* Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize self
* Strong and consistent customer service and communication skills
* Willingness to work a flexible schedule and participate in on-call duties
* Strong team member with self-motivation and desires to improve the infrastructure
* Excellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills
* Experience with management, monitoring and reporting of NetFlow data desirable
* Experience conducting network lab tests and simulating network environments
* Minimal travel anticipated for this position
