Job Description

WJLA-TV has an immediate opening for the Managing Director of Government Matters Media, the leader in providing non-partisan information and analysis to federal managers, contractors and those supporting the federal marketplace. The ideal candidate will have overall responsibility for all aspects of Government Matters' on-air and digital platforms. Responsibilities include collaborating with the federal marketplace and our client partners to develop solution oriented content strategies. You will manage a growing portfolio of programs designed to appeal to the federal marketplace- locally, nationally, and around the world

Responsibilities:
• Support Thought Leadership Network custom programs by translating customer needs into actionable editorial content.
• Creating multi-platform sales products
• Managing relationships with vendors and federal agencies
• Actively participate on client calls with the Government Matters sales team
• Leading weekly sales and editorial meetings
• Scheduling travel and accommodations
• Approving media trades
• Public speaking, attending conferences & other high-profile events
• Hiring, mentoring and training new employees and interns
• Manage Government Matters P&L
• Completing administrative tasks
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Required Skills:
• Solid grasp of current news and issues impacting the federal marketplace
• Extensive rolodex of contacts across the federal marketplace (i.e. public information officers, marketing professionals, C-Suite executives, etc.)
• Be a compelling and accurate writer
• Be able to multi-task and manage multiple paid programs simultaneously
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to execute strategies and goals in broadcast format
• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities are a must
• Proficient with workflow tools (i.e. Zendesk Sell, PowerPoint, etc.) and newsroom systems (i.e. iNews, etc.)

Experience:
• Prior television experience preferred, but not required
• An MBA degree is preferred, but not required
