Senior Reporter, KTNV

KTNV, the E.W. Scripps ABC station in Las Vegas, Nevada is looking for a seasoned and dynamic Senior Reporter to join our team. The Senior Reporter must be a top-tier storyteller with the ability to own the content in front of them. Beyond reporting duties, this role will also involve providing mentorship and guidance to new reporters at KTNV.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
• Generate compelling story ideas tailored for multiple platforms.
• Report live on location from various news events.
• Some anchoring duties may be required.
• Gather and verify factual information regarding stories through interview, observation, and research.
• Organize material, and write stories according to prescribed editorial story style, and formats for each of our platforms- including digital.
• Research stories through personal contacts, the internet and other sources deciding the best angle and approach for the story.
• Collaborate effectively with News, Promotion, Production and Engineering on daily broadcast, special projects and online coverage.
• Make community appearances and participate in station-led initiatives.
• Build a network of informational sources to provide exclusive stories for the Scripps brand.
• Meet all production deadlines.
• Periodically required to drive personal or company vehicle to cover various assignments.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
• Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or related degree or equivalent years of experience.
• Generally, 5+ years of experience in related field preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
• Strong communication skills, oral and written.
• Collaboration mentality and approach to daily work.
• Experience reporting and producing news stories of impact.
• Ability to multi-task stories and produce versions for each platform we serve.
• Advanced ability when it comes to critical thinking.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required.
