Job Description

Netflix is building the world's leading internet TV network, offering great films and series that push the boundaries of storytelling and delight members of all ages and tastes across the world. Our team, Product Writing, creates the words that guide members to the content that is right for them.

We are seeking an experienced bilingual Korean writer-editor to join our team. This person will have a demonstrable passion for Korean-origin movies and series, understand current Korean entertainment trends and have substantial project management experience. We are particularly interested in individuals who have proven proficiency in writing and editing world-class creative content in English.

This role will demand daily communication with teams in California and Seoul, and some travel to offices in-region.

As the person responsible for product writing for the Korean market, you'll edit and assist with writing title-level synopses for every Korean-origin title in the Netflix catalog. With a special focus on local-origin content, you'll work with a talented team of entertainment writers and colleagues in Seoul and California to build the context around titles and help connect users to the content they love. The ideal candidate is a seasoned copy editor and an exceptional short-form writer, and equally confident taking on complex multi-stage project launches and detailed copy editing.

Things you'll need:
• Native proficiency in Korean and English
• Exceptional ability in short-form writing and editing
• Consistent, voracious appetite for Korean media
• Mastery of AP style and confident ability to break those rules when needed
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Project management experience
• Flexibility to connect in real time with teams in satellite offices around the globe
• Ability to provide constructive, direct feedback
• Intense focus on the member experience
• Obsessive attention to detail
• Dedication to seeing projects through to completion
• Ability to thrive in a fast-changing, candid work environment
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

What you'll do:
• Manage titles: assign them to writers, monitor calendars, oversee writers' workloads
• Review assignments for upcoming releases to make sure copy deliverables are on track to meet deadlines
• Edit for style, following internal style guides and AP Stylebook
• Copy edit for tone, voice, cultural/political sensitivities, grammar, punctuation and spelling
• Coach other writers and help to train any new writers hired in the future
• Research, watch, and write short-form synopses
• Partner with regional teams to understand priorities in the market
• Collaborate with other writers and editors to offer feedback and load-balance assignments
• Align editorial workflows with U.S. counterparts
• Respond to market-specific questions from internal partners
• Sync with the Seoul and California teams about the day's events via Slack and Google Hangouts.

This is a full-time role with the option of being based in Los Gatos, Los Angeles or Seoul, reporting to the Bilingual Synopsis Manager in Los Gatos, California.
