Operator I, Master Control

WLAX/WEUX in La Crosse/Eau Claire, WI is looking for a Full Time Master Control Operator/Creative Services Producer to join our Team in La Crosse, WI. This is a unique full-time position with part-time duties in master control and part-time duties in production.

The Master Control Operator is responsible for the overall on-air look of the television station through airing programming and scheduled station breaks. The Creative Services Producer operates television or video cameras to record images or scenes for commercial and promotional spots and operates editing equipment to produce images or scenes for commercial and promotional spots.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Updates and maintains signal control systems.
• Maintains programming logs as required by station management.
• Segments content and clips to the server and then trims and modifies it.
• Electronically send traffic logs and appends logs to the data management system.
• Monitors strength, clarity and reliability of incoming and outgoing signals and adjusts equipment as necessary to maintain quality broadcasts.
• Selects sources from which programming will be received, or through which programming will be transmitted.
• Ensures the high-quality airing of commercials with high run rates and minimized down time.
• Switches on/off live events.
• Reports equipment problems and ensures that repairs are made and makes emergency repairs to equipment when necessary and possible.
• Ensures the station's compliance with Emergency Alert System requirements.
• Shoots video for commercial and promotional efforts
• Confers with other personnel to discuss assignments, filming sequences, desired effects and shot requirements
• Sets up, composes, and executes video shots
• Selects and combines the most effective shots of scene to form a logical and smoothly running story
• Maintains video equipment
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Skills:
• High School Diploma.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, and other office equipment.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as a part of a regular schedule and/or dictated by business need.
• Reliable and motivated to fulfill obligations; ability to work independently and without supervision.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The Master Control Operator/Creative Services Producer must be able to sit, stand, use electronic mail, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, lift and set up equipment weighing up to 50lbs work outdoors in all weather conditions, and indoors in environmentally controlled conditions,.
