News Photojournalist

Job Description

We are seeking a full-time News Photojournalist for a Washington D.C. based national political show. We want someone who can see beyond the lens and create compelling content. As a Photojournalist, you will shoot interviews with our host and key news leaders. You will work with the production team to build shows that will air across the country.

We are shooting full HD on media cards and editing on desktops and laptops. Responsibilities will involve editing, shooting interviews with newsmakers, shooting stories, lives shots, and natural sound packages. You should have strong editing skills in non-linear edit systems, possess excellent people skills, a strong work ethic, and a great attitude. A passion for story telling is essential in this position. Collaboration is a big part of this role.

Essential Duties and Requirements include the following:
• Be an aggressive team-player who can produce good stories under tight deadlines
• Technical knowledge of editing and photo equipment is required
• Ability to execute during breaking news events
• Must be a self-starter and who can generate his or her own story ideas daily
• Ability to demonstrate enterprise reporting and creativity in story-telling
• Ability to work under deadline and on a flexible schedule is required
• Contribute story ideas to editorial meetings
• Participate in regular content planning meetings
• Post content on assigned digital platforms
• Setting up for sit down one on one interviews
• Shoot stories for other departments as assigned
• Edit stories for other departments as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Previous experience working in a team environment is a must
• Considerable live shot experience is preferred
• Experience with lighting multi-camera shots
• At least 3 years of photojournalism experience is required
• Must have valid driver's license and be able to operate ENG news vehicles
• Must be able to lift and carry between 25 and 50 pounds on a regular basis
