Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for the timely development of high-quality commercial books (and other content assets), for Tiller Press, a data-driven imprint at Simon & Schuster. Will oversee the editorial workflow, from ideation and production to distribution and analysis and will collaborate with the Cultural Intelligence, Operations, Marketing and Design teams to generate book ideas and pursue them.

Responsibilities:
• Identify, develop, and edit titles and branded book pipelines across a range of nonfiction categories, ensuring all content is smart, original, valuable, and clean, plus aligns with Tiller's and Simon & Schuster's editorial vision
• Communicate context, vision and requirements to everyone involved in a book's creation
• Build a content repository of quality content, along with a stellar cast of smart writers and other content creators to fill that repository
• Collaborate with the Cultural Intelligence team to leverage trends and market data that will help inform title strategy and the editorial calendar
• Keep an eye on content produced by influencers and work with the Cultural Intelligence team to build relationships with these key influencers and communities
• Champion all titles, both internally and externally
• Mine a backlist to identify titles worth updating and reissuing

QUALIFICATIONS:
• A proven track record of identifying and signing up ideas and writers/authors that reflect today's diverse and competitive marketplace
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership qualities
• Online experience is ideal-with some exposure to UX, design, and content management systems
• Detail-oriented and deadline-driven with the ability to work under pressure. Must take initiative and work with a high level of professionalism.
• Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent executive presentation skills
• Ability to summarize key findings into clear and actionable recommendations, and to interact with individuals at all levels
• Highly motivated with the desire to grow within the organization
• Ability to integrate and execute in a matrixed, team-oriented, open and collaborative environment
• A strong interest in health and wellness, food, lifestyle, and narrative content a plus
