Summary.

The Head of Production is responsible for delivering shows within their own facilities and collaborating with other facilities. The HOP will drive the long-term success of the Production Department and effectively manage their team.

Primary Responsibilities

Quota Management

In partnership with the EPs and HCOs, oversee the delivery of quota across all disciplines and shows in the facility. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring Producer set quota across disciplines and Shows, and acting as a point of escalation for VFX Production Managers regarding any difficult quota concerns, therefore working towards the successful delivery of shows across facilities. Attend show meetings alongside the HCO and HOT to triage quota issues based on a traffic-light system and work with the HOT to manage the creative/technology requirements for the show. Meet with direct reports for updates on quota, efficiencies and team management. Analyse weekly quota results and show schedules; provide recommendations to improve quotas and efficiencies, and report weekly quota results and show progress to the Senior Management Team. The HOP is also responsible for the cross-show management of render scheduling and prioritisation for their site.

Production Department Management

Work in collaboration with other sites to ensure successful delivery. In partnership with the Global HOP, structures working practices and toolsets for the Production Team, fitting the global model and maintaining a consistent standard across all sites, within budget. Diagnosing problems or inefficiencies within the structure and identifying improvements for the Production Tools – work with Software Team to define functionality requirements for updating or creating new tools, and completing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on new software released and change requests made by Production. Support the HOS and DMs on Discipline requirements for Production; strategize with DMs and offer recommendations. Arrange quarterly Production Team meetings with the CPM. In partnership with the CPM, structure Production Teams for new and existing shows and manage the headcount for the entire facility's Production Team against set KPIs. As part of the Senior Management Team; in partnership with the Head of Workforce Planning drive the facility's quota and develop a vision for facility growth; work with the financial controller to manage budgets and spends; and maintain a holistic view of the evolution of MPC Film for your facility and in collaboration with the other HOPs and SMT for a unified and global approach.

Team Management

Depending on the facility Production headcount and show workload, directly manage the CPM and Production Managers including contract extensions, performance management, probation reviews and appraisals. Manage salaries and annual pay reviews, as well as identifying efficiencies and salary savings where possible – responsible for approving any new hire offers. Approve overtime where required. In partnership with the Head of L&D, CPM and Global HOP, review and update Production training programs to ensure global alignment. In partnership with the Production Talent Manager, review and update soft skills training for the team.

Engagement and Proposition

Within MPC Film, provide mentorship to direct reports and offer any required training on Production tools. Champion a positive and productive culture of high performance, supporting the brand as a global industry leader in visual effects; be an advocate of diversity and inclusivity; and as an ambassador to promote MPC Film within the local film community.
