Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Fox Business is looking for a Managing Editor for its Assignment Desk. As the Managing Editor, you are an aggressive journalist who will be the first line of defense for breaking news. You will coordinate the work of the reporters, field producers, media desk, digital desk and affiliates to provide all shows with content.

You may be offered the following shift: Mondays thru Fridays or Sundays thru Thursdays (7:00 am- 3:00 pm)

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Identify and enterprise, in advance, the stories the show producers will want
• Work with reporters on logistics, element gathering and story telling
• Supervise the assignment desk editors
• Coordinate with photographers, truck operators and field producers
• Confirm editorial information for air and planning
• Monitor wires and social media for breaking news and stories
• Locate new video, fresh sound for ongoing stories and make reporters and field crews aware of what is available
• Plan ahead on big stories and events
• Receive pitches from reporters and producers and determine which ones are on brand
• Work with Fox Business and Fox News upper management & bureau chiefs to coordinate and move reporters and crews

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• A Bachelor's degree and/or relevant work experience is preferred
• A minimum of 5 years' experience in Network or major market news gathering and experience supervising a team
• Strong editorial judgement
• A passion for current and breaking business news events
• Ability to find business news stories and identify where to get the latest editorial information
• An instinct for problem solving
• Understanding of tape-less workflow in a newsroom
• Familiarity with iNews
