Role Details:

CBS Interactive is seeking an experienced business affairs executive with strong negotiation skills to lead entertainment business affairs for CBS All Access, CBS's digital subscription video on-demand and live-streaming service. The SVP, Business Affairs will be primarily responsible for negotiating licensing of ViacomCBS original content and acquisitions for the service. Negotiations will include, but not be limited to, the following: underlying rights, license agreements, Viacom CBS co-productions, digital media. This is a highly visible role that will work with leadership across business units.

Your Day-to-Day:
• Negotiate favorable rates and secure rights to content and programming for use within ViacomCBS' digital subscription video experience and digital distribution ecosystem
• Structure, negotiate, document, and manage transactions to acquire underlying rights for the development and production of original content for ViacomCBS' digital subscription video on-demand (SVOD) and live-streaming service
• Provide business development and deal negotiation support for proprietary ViacomCBS' SVOD programming
• Manage various aspects of the rights to the ViacomCBS catalog, and all other catalog acquisitions including underlying film licenses, catalogue episodes, and new episode production
• Review budgets and other financial data associated with the development and production of such programming
• Work with various internal departments in the deal-making process
• Responsible for business affairs issues on current programs and the effective and timely communication with internal departments and producers in connection with such programs
• Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

What you bring to the team:

You have -
• Minimum 8+ year's professional experience at a major law firm or media company, including significant transactional work in-house at an entertainment, media or production company
• Juris Doctorate (JD)
• Must be a Licensed Attorney in the state of California
• Experience negotiating and drafting television talent agreements
• Strong analytical, communication, and legal drafting skills
• Knowledgeable and experienced in multi-platform distribution of content
• Able to work to deadlines in a highly pressurized and demanding environment
• Able to inspire, lead and develop team members as well as influence colleagues across the business
• Interest in evolving new media business models and the ability to understand and devise new such business models
• Extensive knowledge of film, television, and pop culture with an eye for quality and commercial viability
• Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and to assess and minimize legal risks with good business judgment

You might also have -
• Relevant experience negotiating television development/production deals in a business affairs department at a media company and/or entertainment legal practice strongly preferred
• Prior experience negotiating between network/SVOD platforms strongly preferred
• Strong professional relationships with talent representatives and business/legal affairs executives
