Responsibilities
NBC News & MSNBC seek a Director on their Standards & Practices team. The Director will provide support and guidance to all platforms of NBC News & MSNBC – particularly focusing on issues of race, class, gender, culture, religion and intersectionality.

Job Duties:
• Maintain the reputation, journalistic integrity and editorial independence of the news organization.
• Work with senior editorial leaders across all platforms, on reviewing scripts/reports/articles for accuracy, fairness, equality and adequate sourcing – particularly as it relates to topics of race, class, gender, culture, religion and intersectionality.
• Leverage and call upon existing network of subject matter experts, on topics including, but not limited to race, class, gender, culture, religion and intersectionality.
• Support and consult with Executive Producers, Executive Editors and leaders across TV and digital, on review processes and ethics training.
• Help establish overall news division wide standards policies and guidelines, especially on matters related to race, class, gender, culture, religion and intersectionality.
• Provide advice to NBC News/MSNBC journalists (both on air and off, across all platforms) on news standards.
• Ensure that new and current employees are continually educated on NBC News & MSNBC's Standards & Practices policies – across all platforms.

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• 10+ years working experience within the journalism field

– including broadcast, cable, digital or print.
• Proven expert in race, class, gender, culture, religion

and intersectionality.
• Adept in all forms of storytelling – both on traditional

media, as well as emerging platforms.
• Prior experience in network TV management or news

production experience.
• Must have ability to communicate and collaborate well

with colleagues.
• Should be open and able to adapt to new approaches to

content and storytelling.
• Must have solid news and editorial judgment.

Additional Job Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in New York, NY or Los Angeles,

CA.

• Self-starter; able to work independently and proactively.
• Strong writing and editorial skills.
