Responsibilities
The Research and Rights Manager is responsible for rights and editorial standards for all NBC News content licensing by Sales Partner. S(he) liaises with the News Standards team, overseeing all approval requests, and manages large research and non-standard Partner projects with Researchers. (S)he oversees incoming requests from Sales Partner, managing assignments and distribution of workload to ensure that all targets and deadlines are met.

The right candidate is a supportive and highly accountable team player, capable of managing a high volume of requests on a variety of projects while paying attention to details for the team to meet aggressive targets while ensuring that all NBC News guidelines and practices are respected.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Review all Standards approval requests and liaise with News Standards team.
• Advise Partner on overall editorial standards, rights restrictions and approval process.
• Guide Partner on large complex research projects and content collection strengths.
• Master content, rights and technical workflows to advise Partner on best practices to meet deadlines on complex projects.
• Oversees Partner's requests queue ensuring that distribution and assignment of tasks among Researchers allow all contractual service level response times to be met.
• Be the first point of contact for Partner regarding delays, non-standard requests and prioritization of urgent orders.
• Guide Researchers on research and rights best practices.
• Manages relationships with local stations, Library of Congress, etc. to facilitate access to content for licensing.
• Work on research, screeners and master requests as needed to meet volume needs.
• Communicate progress and findings to Partner on a timely basis and provide regular updates on large complex projects.
• Anticipate client's project needs and proactively recommend content and suggest alternate footage.
• Keep accurate records of all aspects of customer projects in Salesforce including research, screeners and masters delivered, approval forms, schedules.
• Create and maintain reports on Standards approvals, restricted content, content licensed, Partner requests, etc. and work on special projects as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university required.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in news/stock footage licensing.
• Strong knowledge of copyright law with a focus on video Rights and Clearances process.
• Extensive knowledge of NBC News archival and current content.
• Understanding of digital environment, film and video formats and delivery options.
• Solid computer skills including Office Suite, Salesforce, MAM and database research.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills to work effectively with Partner.
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to work efficiently under constant pressure while paying attention to detail.
• Time management skills to meet tight deadlines and willingness to work flexible hours.
• Team player who shows initiative and takes the lead on problem solving and conflict resolution.
