JOB DESCRIPTION
FOX 5 TV, Washington DC's #1 news station with the most hours of local news, is seeking an experienced weather anchor and reporter. Candidates should have fully developed and polished anchoring, reporting and weather forecasting skills. This position requires a highly creative individual who is passionate about meteorology with the ability to report live, write, edit and produce compelling daily weather-related news content using state of the art technology for use on-air and online. Must be able to demonstrate ability to create and present interesting weathercasts specific to the day's events. Ideal candidates will be outstanding storytellers and live on-air performers with strong meteorology and reporting skills, solid journalistic judgment and the ability to ad-lib effectively. Will be required to r esearch and generate story ideas to maximize news content. Must be able to produce and present live coverage of feature reports or special events. This position m ay also require some shooting and non-linear editing. Prior experience with newsroom systems required. Will perform the functions of a GA reporter as needed. Must work well in team environment. This position requires daily collaboration with the assignment desk, producers, editors, photographers and the technical production team to create compelling news content for air to grow ratings and maintain viewer interest. Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills are essential. Participation in station sponsored community events will be required. Established social media presence and engagement preferred. Qualified candidates should possess a degree in Journalism, Meteorology or related field. 4+ years of live news experience required. Major market experience strongly preferred. Must have, or be willing to obtain, a valid driver's license and be able to drive. Local/national travel, weekends, holidays and varied hours required.
