Audience Development Manager - HTV Digital

Hearst Television is seeking an audience development expert to launch and grow digital brands across a variety of platforms, finding new and creative ways to bring the local reporting from HTV's 26 local news stations to national audiences. The audience development manager will be responsible for strategizing the growth of new and existing video franchises, using organic and paid tactics to extend the reach of our brands. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, the flexibility and curiosity to explore new platforms, and will be comfortable with testing strategies and developing takeaways from data that could be shared with the entire Hearst Television digital team. The position is based in our New York City office and will report to the Amplify team manager.

Job duties:
• Build, implement, and own long-term strategies for growing existing brands and launching new ones, with a particular focus on YouTube
• Responsible for developing design, direction, strategy and implementation of all HTV central team YouTube properties
• Manage existing national-facing social accounts across all content distribution platforms, including crafting engaging, accurate and grammatically correct social copy
• Develop and maintain the social posting schedule across the entire digital group
• Be a critical voice in the development of new video brands, from brainstorming through launch
• Work with the entire central digital team to meet their needs and optimize their work for social audiences
• Manage the social spending budget and implement campaigns to align with and meet the team's KPIs
• Conduct competitive analysis research and analyze internal data to develop learnings and stay ahead of trends
• Deliver and execute strategic plans, being able to work autonomously

Requirements:
• 3-5 years of relevant experience
• Experience with and a passion for news and video content
• A desire and ability to be both in the weeds, managing day-to-day operations, and strategizing long term
• A deep familiarity with social platforms and knowledge of paid social tactics, and a proven track record of growing brands on social platforms
• Strong news judgment and understanding of journalism ethics
• Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritize day-to-day tasks and long-term projects
• An entrepreneurial, problem-solving attitude
• Proficiency with Google Ads Manager, Facebook Business Manager, Social News Desk or other social media management tools
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications or related field
