Responsibilities

NBC News Business, Technology and Media unit is looking for an experienced editor who will contribute to our expanding team. The Senior Business & Tech Editor will shape the unit's efforts to deliver deeply-reported investigations and enterprise stories for NBCNews.com and TODAY.com that have national news impact. The biz/tech unit oversees editorial content for the sectors across all of our platforms on NBC News, MSNBC, digital and News Now. Unit services enterprise, investigative and daily coverage.

You will work directly with a growing team of business and tech editors, staff writers, reporters and freelance writers to develop stories and strengthen the unit's capabilities. The role will also include liaising and collaborating with broadcast producers to ensure stories are amplified by the relevant TV shows in the NBCUniversal family.

The ideal candidate will have a track record of high-impact editing and reporting, management experience, and an entrepreneurial approach to telling stories online.

Job Duties
• Oversee the development of authoritative, engaging original digital business and technology stories
• Ability to edit complex investigative stories and long form enterprise stories
• Provide substantive editing, re-writing and copyediting for a variety of internal and external writers
• Pitch ideas for business and technology content for a mix of formats: breaking news, enterprise, multi-part series and find partnership ideas with broadcast
• Act as liaison between writers and Digital Media team
• Collaborate with broadcast producers to create unique digital content to accompany TV business and technology segments.

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
• 7+ years relevant experience in business and technology writing/editing
• Bachelor's degree
• Mastery of AP style
• Must be willing to work early morning hours, weekends and occasional evenings when news breaks.
