Job Description

Responsibilities
The Vice President of Legal Affairs, Television will be responsible for legal affairs for scripted content (animation and live action) for DreamWorks Animation Television.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Serve as a senior member of the BALA team of business and legal affairs lawyers who support the DreamWorks Animation Television development and production group.
• Structure, negotiate and draft a high-volume of complex, high-profile creator/EP deals, first-look and overall deals, rights/acquisitions deals, co-production deals and development and production services deals.
• Oversight of production counsel and contract administration functions.
• Provide timely and thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues, and propose practical, responsive solutions.
• Identify and implement improvements to forms and processes.
• Advise on questions that arise under applicable union and guild collective bargaining agreements.
• Maintain relationships with attorneys, agents and other representatives in the entrainment community.
• Advise and interface with a broad range of departments, including development, talent, production, accounting, finance, labor and employment, marketing, promotions, insurance, tax distribution, to implements production legal policies and procedures.

Qualifications/Requirements
Member of California Bar and JD from an accredited law school.

Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in a television or motion picture studio, production company, network or law firm.

Desired Characteristics
Outstanding analytic, communication and organizational skills, including excellent drafting and negotiation skills. Transactional experience in animation and/or live action television is required.

Sound business judgement and flexibility/adaptability to manage multiple, wide-ranging matters, conflicting deadlines and new areas of expertise as business needs change.

Superior organizational skills and ability to handle and track a high-volume workload.

Ability to explain complex legal concepts to business and creative executives, build consensus across business units, think creatively, and collaborate with other executives to address business needs.

Ability to build interdepartmental relationships at all levels.

A self-motivated, proactive attorney capable of working autonomously and as a member of a team in a fast-paced entertainment environment.
