Our Team
The Global Security & Building Operations team develops and manages programs and services that promote a safe, secure and well-maintained office space while supporting the business needs of our customers.

The Role
Responsible for maintaining the facility, coordinating office services programs, mail room, responding to facility related issues that arise during the day, completing work tickets and maintaining conference rooms. Requires strong communications and computer skills along with the ability to build relationships with Discovery staff.

Responsibilities

1. Complete maintenance tickets (spills, hang picture/whiteboards, specialty lights, move furniture, and complete key requests)

2. Operates all mail room activities daily

3. Schedules and works with vendors (electricians, painters, plumbers, etc.) as related to scheduled project work

4. Serve as back up Incident Commander to Facility Manager and participate in Fire Drills.

6. Manage the inventory of safety supplies and supplement where needed

7. Provides excellent customer service and act as a resource to customers

9. Manage the Satellite phones, testing and inventory of all the phones worldwide

10. Ensures all meetings and facility activities adhere to accepted building use agreements/guidelines

11. Maintain database for department AED's

12. Provides back-up Reception coverage as needed

13. Cross-trained in multiple facets within the Facilities Department to provide coverage where needed

14. Coordinates with UPS, FEDEX, DHL and other vendors for special deliveries

15. Provide support as needed for HR and Communications employee events and initiatives

Requirements
* High school diploma or equivalency
* Experience for 2-4 years in facilities related field
* Experience with safety programs and procedures preferred
* Ability to establish and maintain good relationships is essential
* Ability to maintain professional demeanour amidst changing environment
* Ability to handle several varied projects/functions simultaneously
* Provide coverage in the absence of other Building Operations Personnel and daily assistance as needed
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Proficiency with MS Office
*Must have the legal right to work in the United States Silver Spring
