Responsibilities
TODAY Digital, the multiplatform arm of America's favorite morning show, is looking for an Associate Commerce Editor to help manage articles for shoppable broadcast segments.
The Associate Commerce Editor will work closely with producers to identify and write and/or assign/edit shoppable show content for TODAY.com in addition to editing general commerce stories from freelancers.
This candidate should have a mix of editorial and analytical skills, with a firm understanding of commerce content, grammar and AP style. They must be able to multitask in fast-paced environment to create and edit shoppable editorial content across multiple product categories. This person should also use data and analytics to drive editorial decisions and accurately decipher marketing jargon to ensure all copy is accurate and help readers make informed shopping decisions.
Responsibilities:
• Write and/or edit and publish Shop TODAY articles tied to shoppable broadcast segments and general commerce content
• Coordinate with broadcast producers to identify commerce-focused content on TODAY and obtain notes and scripts to build articles
• Quickly prep articles to align with show timing while managing daily assignments and edits
• Pitch, assign and edit commerce content based on timely news, trending topics, and SEO terms
• Optimize content for search and based on affiliate partnerships and commerce opportunities
• Contribute to the growth of Shop TODAY by brainstorming new ways to engage readers and drive traffic/sales across all digital platforms
Qualifications/Requirements
• 2+ years of editing experience in digital media,
preferably with commerce experience
• Proven experience with copy editing
• Exceptional knowledge of grammar and AP Style
• Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter with the
ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work
across multiple teams
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills with the
ability to deal with all levels of management
• Strong editorial judgment and sense of the TODAY voice
and audience
• Experience working in broadcast news or linear
television production a plus
• Interest in shopping trends and discovering new
products that will resonate with TODAY readers
• Comfortable analyzing data to make informed editorial
decisions
• Familiarity with affiliate marketing platforms a plus
