Responsibilities

Role Purpose:
The Director, Games Event Management position reports to the VP, Olympic Operations and requires travel to the Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo, Japan for approximately 10-12 weeks as well as travel to upcoming Host Cities.

Responsibilities:
• Oversight of NBC Olympics budgets related to Accommodations, Accreditation, Air Travel, Arrivals & Departures, Ground Transportation and Event Ticketing programs. Internal responsibilities also include personnel onboarding and travel data management.
• Manage all vendor relations within department, specifically Accommodations, Air and Transportation vendors, serving as the primary contact for NBC Olympics.
• Responsible for development of cost projections and regular financial reporting for all relevant budgets.
• Negotiate and execute Air contracts, specifically charter flight agreements with partner airlines.
• Oversight of all Games Event Management functionality within internal NBC Sports Group database/CRM software (SCORE). Work closely with development team to update and improve department-specific functions for the program.
• Responsible for the management of Accreditation including the assignment of credentials to NBC personnel, vendors, affiliates, etc. and credential data submission(s) to the Organizing Committee.
• Plan and submit all Olympic event ticket requirements for NBCUniversal. This includes close coordination with NBC's Client Hospitality program as well as other business divisions.
• Work directly with Comcast, News, Telemundo, and other entities company-wide to determine Accommodations, Air and Accreditation needs and fulfill requests; track all bill backs.
• Recruit and train all full-time and Games-time staff within Games Event Management department for both US-based and Host City operations.
• Oversee all communications with Organizing Committees of the Olympic Games (OCOGs) in all relevant functional areas, maintaining relationships with area leads as well as governing bodies such as Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
• Lead internal communications within the larger Olympic Operations and NBC Olympics groups. Regular staff meetings, departmental briefings and presentations will be planned to keep all areas informed.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by VP, Olympic Operations.

Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of project management experience, preferably in the area of travel and sports, and/or special events.
• Willingness to work weekends and long hours; extensive time and travel to Olympic cities.

Eligibility Requirements:
• Must be willing to work in Stamford CT
• Must be ''on call'' 24 hours a day / 7 days a week during designated Games-time period
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Bachelor's degree in related field and/or equivalent work experience
• Must be 18 years or older

Desired Characteristics

Desired Characteristics:
• Previous experience in planning or managing aspects of an Olympic program for an Olympic Organizing Committee, Olympic partner or on an equivalent event.
