A little bit about our team:

The WMG Research & Analysis (R&A) team drives overall analytics across WMG, globally. To do this, the team liaises with WMG's corporate center which includes its Information Technology team and Data team to access data at scale. Based upon this data, R&A works with WMG labels, affiliates (territories), publisher (WCM) and digital strategy team to define a key series of questions and insights upon which WMG can measure and maximize success for its artists. R&A also, of course, manages ad hoc projects that help to build the foundations of understanding of data and analysis across the company. There are four component parts of R&A today: Content Insights, Partner Insights, Audience Insights and Marketing Insights.

Why this could be your next big break:

Based in New York, this role will lead jointly lead R&A to rebuild the foundations of analytics across WMG. The role will need to hit the ground running in order to tackle low-hanging fruit that leads to quick wins. The broader goal though is to develop a strategy around both ad hoc and consistent market research that drives the business to incremental value. This means that a set of key questions needs to be isolated for ongoing learnings while R&A continues to work with the business to understand what ad hoc analyses can help to evolve the definition of success.

Here you'll get to:
• Partner with key executives across the organization to align on those questions that need to be answered in order to drive growth and opportunity
• The ideal candidate not only helps us to identify our fans and how to effectively communicate with them, but also act as an evangelist for R&A and market research, by proactively engaging with colleagues on bespoke projects ranging from new release campaigns to over-arching marketing strategies
• Design, develop and direct a 12-month roadmap of WMG's market research programs across all labels and affiliates
• Consistently evolve roadmap based on burgeoning trends to drive incremental value
• Integrate market research initiatives into all facets of R&A so that a holistic picture emerges from qualitative studies and quantitative analysis
• Drive the overall management and planning processes of the department
• Develop WMG's at-scale and automated internal proficiencies within market research as new tools emerge, testing and securing access to best in class platforms and ensuring that this access is universally usable by WMG
• Design custom and ad hoc research to define incremental areas of opportunity
• Partner with other senior leaders of the department to ensure that market research is a component of all R&A studies

Rockstar candidates will have:
• 10+ years of relevant work experience
• Masters or PhD
• Aptitude in project management and team leadership
• Proven executive presence and self-management ability
• Solid understanding of digital media and consumer technology is required
• Experience in public speaking

It would be music to our ears if you also had:
• Proven track record of delivering upon research and analytics within market performance, consumer research, and strategic research
• Experience crafting, communicating and executing upon critical initiatives
• A strong understanding of the broader digital media ecosystem and evolving consumer technology
• Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to build and manage both internal and external relationships.
