Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION
Create, develop and produce daily television newscast. Select content and assign stories to writers and editors and copy edit that content. Write stories and teases for newscasts. Coordinate production activities and deadlines with Managing Editor and production staff. Work closely with Managing Editor, Executive Producer and other news managers on story selection, editorial priorities and content. Collaborate with Promotions Producers on pre-newscast teases. Conceptualize graphics, video wall/monitor displays and other visual newscast elements with Executive Producer and Directors. Incorporate digital and social media content into newscasts. React and respond quickly to breaking news during newscasts. Monitor show timing to ensure newscast breaks and off-times are executed correctly. Producer segments and write stories as assigned for other newscasts.

3-5 years of experience line producing for local TV, cable or network newscast. Solid news judgment with emphasis on winning breaking news. Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills with an ability to multitask. Excellent people skills,

with professional demeanor in a high-pressure environment. Ability to react and respond quickly to breaking news during newscasts. Knowledge of newsroom computer systems, particularly iNews, BitCentral and Oasis. Understanding of visual news tools like video walls and graphics to enhance overall newscast production. Knowledge of social media, web based workflows for producing, posting and uploading video and graphics. Major market experience preferred. College degree preferred.
